Question:
I just purchased a linksys 802.11 B standard router?

if the G-standard routers are rated three times slower than what can I use that router for that will be effective but minimize fustration? I had the idea to link my laptop, X-box 360, ITv, and I have plans to link a Wii and/ or PS3 if and when I ever decided to get one. how will these decisions affect my house hold network in terms of speed, reliabilty, and security?

Answer:
802.11b is OLD. 802.11g is newer. 802.11n is the NEWEST.

I’d suggest you take the router you bought back to where you bought it from.

For the rest of your question, visit my site on setting up a home wireless network.

802.11 G Security

Question:
Help with psp internet connection.. server times out after i get online?

i just bought a belkin n1, and i can get online.. but i can only view one page. if i click a link on the page, the psp tells me the server timed out.
the router:
belkin n1
802.11 (d,g,n)
wpa-psk security
encryption-tkip
recent firmware 3.0 update
the psp:
psp1001
3.30
no homebrew
i can connect to my linksys wrt54g without a problem, my laptops can connect to the belkin without a problem.
obviously the security key is correct because i can get online.
the belkin shows me that a wireless device is connected, my wlan light on the psp is solid green.

Answer:
i think the problem is that the belkin’s security/firewall is incompatible with the psp’s attempted connect, that would explain you being able to connect but not go anywhere, you may need to lower the firewall settings and security encryptions to allow it to work.

Question:
What do 802.11 wireless communications have to protest against possible security issues?

What do 802.11 wireless communications have to protest against possible security issues? and how best to improve / fix any breach etc.

Answer:
Wireless PSK. this is a password that needs to be entered to gain access to the network. to enable it, you need to access the router settings which can normally be found by typing 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1 or similar, depending on the router you have. i have belkin which is 192.168.2.1 . on there should have some security settings which you can set to protect your network from unauthorised access. once the wireless PSK has been set anyone trying to connect will need to type in this password.

A Burglar Alarm

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

Question:
Burglar alarm going off?

Our neighbours ahve gone away for bank hol and their burglar alarm keeps going off every half an hour. There are no burglars in the house. Will it keep going off indefinately until they come home. No on has a contact number for them.

Answer:
***DON’T*** CALL THE POLICE. If you’re in the UK they can’t do anything as noise powers were taken away from them and given to your local authority. Call your local council’s environmental health officer and they have the power to come out and clip the wires to turn the noise off.
You will need a ladder, and a can of expanding foam. Place ladder next to alarm, clinb ladder and fill alarm with expanding foam.
Or get in touch with your local council

A Security Alarm

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

Question:
Auto-Mate Car security alarm- any contact info in CA?

I got a Auto-Mate car security alarm installed in my Acura Integra in ‘95. I got into a situation where my car security alarm is armed and making a loud noise and I am not able to reset the alarm. My remote doesn’t work now. And the driver side lock is damaged as somebody tried to break into the car. I had to disconnect the battery to stop the alarm. I am not able to start the car while the alarm sounds (with battery connected).
I have all the security codes and other info for the car alarm. Not sure how to use it though. Would really appreciate if I could get the contact info for the Auto-Mate.

Answer:
look in the back of the remote there is a 1800 number or go here viper.com

but this what you are going to do
open the door
turn on the ignition only (alarm making noise ) to loud ?
go under the dash there is a little push button is gray and black press this button until the alarm turns off and then start the car

if you drive stop the car and close the door most likely the alarm is going to arm by it self again and you have to all this again

Access Control

Monday, August 18th, 2008

Question:
Access Control List?

I realise that some people have asked a similar question, but none of the answers given seem to solve it for me. Any website I try to load using internet explorer comes up with the following message;

Forbidden
You were denied access because:
Access denied by access control list.

Firefox works fine though, so it’s not my internet in general, but anything connected to IE doesn’t work either, for example, the search feature on my computer and on Windows Media Player (where it searches for track information on the web).

Does anyone know what Access Control List is, or how I can fix this problem? Even if you just know what Access Control List is, it’ll at least give me somewhere to work from.

Answer:
From control panes>network connections highlight the connection, then right click and repair connection

Start>control panel>internet options>security (and privacy), change the setting in each section. Or click on “reset all to default”. Try setting all to minimum, then try to access the internet, then reset to default.

start>control panel>firewall>exceptions (and advanced), or turn off the firewall, try to access the internet, DO NOT forget to turn it back on. If you can’t access wit!
h the firewall off, that is not the problem.

Access Control Security

Question:
I have a research about security and access control in web databases.I want some free ebooks and pdf about it?

Where can I find them? please help me.

Answer:
Do an advanced google search (click here):
http://www.google.com/advanced_search?hl…

Where it says “file type” on the right side, click on the down arrow and select: pdf

Then type what you are looking for. Your results will only be .pdf files which will narrow your results down for you. As far as ebooks are concerned, the only thing I can suggest is use the advanced search again.
1. Type ebooks
2. Click on search
3. Scroll down to bottom of page of the google search result then click on “search within results”.
After that, enter your search terms. This will narrow down your results to only include those which have ebook in the title.

Accessory Alarm Security System

Monday, July 28th, 2008

Question:
I just purchased a 03 Accord LX. What are the procedures I should do
for break in? The manual says 600 miles of easy driving and easy
braking. When should I do the first oil change?

I’m also interested in installing an alarm/security system. The LX has
keyless entry, but you can unlock the door, open it, and still start
the engine. I’d just be happy with the stock alarm setup that’s found
on the EX. Is it possible to do this myself? I don’t want an
aftermarket alarm, since everything to lock/unlock my car is nicely
integrated into the key.

Does anyone know a good place to purchase honda accessories at a good
price? I’d like to get the leather-wrap for the steering wheel, and I
don’t want to get an aftermarket part.

Answer:
Try www.cordclub.com. It is an owner site for accords. They had a
couople of good links to some dealers who sell accessories at a good
discount. Also a couple of places with aftermarket parts. The forums
are pretty helpful too. Much like this group. The alarm in my ex was
upgraded to lock the doors after the engine was started ( wifes car and
she always had her cars lock themselfs after she was in) apperantly
there are ways to upgrade the factory set up by adding to the control
box. I would contact the dealership where you bought the car and ask to
speak to there alarm tech.
